Job Description

Reports To: Director of Special Education Services

Position Purpose: To act under the direction of the Special Services Director to provide any support necessary to assist students in achieving their academic goals.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years experience working with people with developmental disabilities or in a healthrelated field
  • Previous training and experience with Assistive Technology preferred.

Physical/Emotional Requirements: (The incumbent may be required to use the below requirements during any part of the working day.

Speaking hearing visual reading writing word processing mobility consistency of temperament ability to work with a variety of problems at the same time stamina for working long hours and in stress producing environments.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members on the integration of assistive technology into daily routines and activities of families with children receiving services on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Responsibilities include but are not limited to developing and designing software to meet individualized needs of children providing technical support assisting with the implementation of Assistive Technology programs and create materials. Creating materials could include adapted books individual visual schedules and monthly schedules.
  • Attend mandatory inservice hours required by the district for paraprofessionals.

Terms of Employment:

9 months; salary and work year to be determined by the Board of Education.

Evaluation:

Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the board policy on evaluation of Support Service Personnel
