Job Description

TITLE: Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION:

To create a flexible elementary and middle school grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; establish effective rapport with pupils; motivate pupils to develop skills attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupils ability; establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor Degree
  2. Arizona Elementary/Secondary Teacher certification
  3. Three 3 years of classroom teaching experience with atrisk students (preferred)
  4. Knowledge of instructional strategies for teaching atrisk students study skills behavior management intervention strategies and accommodations

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

(Essential functions as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act may include any of the following tasks knowledge skills and other characteristics. This list is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all duties and responsibilities performed by the incumbents of this class.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrate teaching skills and knowledge in assigned academic area utilizing course of study adopted by the Governing Board and other appropriate learning activities.
  • Instruct pupils in subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
  • Follow and implement instructional materials provided by teachers and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports.
  • Communicate with parents and classroom teachers/appropriate staff through conferences and other means to discuss pupils progress and interpret the school program.
  • Create an effective environment that is highly structured for learning through functional and attractive displays bulletin boards and interest centers.
  • Maintain professional competence through inservice professional development activities provided by the district and/or selfselected professional growth activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
