Job Title: Civil Designer
Job Location: 12301 Kurland Drive Houston TX 77034
Primary Function:
The Civil designer will perform routine design assignments which require knowledge and skill in basic design techniques and procedures under close supervision. Drafting will comprise a large portion of job responsibility. Thorough knowledge of CAD will be required.
Duties & Responsibilities
Employee may be called upon to perform any or all of the following functions:
- Produce new drawings from examples of previous projects and/or standards with some supervision
- Research information in catalogues specifications corporate standards or other reference material
- Calculate structure heights and weights concrete volumes equipment fitup or other basic tasks
- Learn and properly use the document management system
- Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices
- Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work
- Bring potential projectrelated problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party
- Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments
- Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications / Experience
Associates degree in drafting & Design is required. Extensive experience in drafting disciplines with a background in civil / structural or transmission design is strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or newer is required. Experience with Microstation or PLSCADD is a plus.
Possess skills in the following areas:
- Civil drafting experience for structural substation and transmission line projects is preferred
- Word processing spread sheet and email software
- Mathematics including algebra and basic trigonometry
- Extensive knowledge of various CADD programs
- Basic knowledge of the major components of a substation
- Basic oral and written communications
- Basic knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
- Working in a team environment
- Communicating effectively with coworkers
