Suncorp Group are looking for an Underwriter to join the SME Underwriting Team to provide exceptional service via telephone online referrals and other online transactions to our Commercial Broking Customers for our Intermediated Package and Commercial Motor business.
This role contributes to the of the Commercial Portfolio Strategy through the application of product pricing customer retention and acquisition strategies to deliver the targeted Insurance Trading Result (ITR) for the products in accordance with the Delegated Underwriting Authority (DUA) and Guidelines. It will develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and stakeholders and actively contribute as a member of the SME Underwriting Team.
This role is a 12month secondment opportunity and open to internal applicants across Australia.
What youll do
- Respond to broker requests via telephone or referral as allocated
- Underwriting of new referral business and renewals in alignment with current underwriting selection and pricing guidelines
- Maintain a focus on retention and growth of the business portfolio whilst adhering to the policies and guidelines
- Prepare and make recommendations for risk acceptance or declinature on business outside your agreed DUA within business appetite
- Understand brokers interests and tactics to negotiate the best outcome in terms and conditions for renewals and new business
- Actively collaborate across the team and the broader business to support the achievement of strategic goals and action plans.
What youll bring
- At least 3 years experience within the insurance industry
- A background of providing strong customer service
- Understanding of relevant Insurance products industry market environment reinsurance structures and customer segment
- Excellent interpersonal written and verbal communication skills
- Possess strong initiative high attention to detail and problemsolving skills
- Certificate IV in General Insurance would be advantageous
