Operations and Maintenance is a customerdriven support division providing daytoday maintenance and successful operation of all County Facilities. The Duty Plant Operator operates and monitors the 24hour Facilities Automation System (FAS). This position initiates corrective action in trouble or emergencies by dispatching appropriate staff for various HVAC equipment mechanical equipment boilers fire and elevator alarms and other services.
Please note that this is an overnight position subject to shift differential. It requires the employee to be in the office or customerfacing for all hours worked.

We Require
Three years of experience operating and maintaining equipment for building systems such as HVAC boilers combustion controls water treatment systems or stationary engineer duties
High school diploma or GED
Completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational education may substitute for up to one year of the experience requirement
Must complete a Prison Elimination Act (PREA) and MCSO background investigation and TOC certification to access County detention facilities
Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona drivers license by the time of hire

Experience in industrial or heavy commercial institutional/detention environment
Experience in the use of Facilities Automation Systems (FAS)
Trained in the use of Maximo or other computerbased work order management system
Job Contributions
Operate PCs boilers air handlers air compressors domestic water systems chilled water systems water softeners heating systems air movement equipment and sewer injection systems
Input and dispatch routine and emergency work orders using a maintenance management system and Windows software. Maintain constant verbal communications with clients and field technicians monitor and control temperatures utilizing the Facilities Automation System computer notify proper authorities and management staff on emergency calls
Monitor HVAC chemical treatment/refrigerant alarms elevator and fire alarms and respond appropriately
Monitor and respond to building indoor air quality issues
Maintains the duty operator log and a variety of other daily logs
Collect and analyze data to ensure continuous operation of pump systems and air handling equipment throughout the Administration Courts Jails and other buildings of the County
Work assigned shift to support the 24hour per day 7day aweek operation of the call center and maintain regular and reliable attendance
Call out oncall personnel during afterhours emergency situations
Other job duties as assigned
Working Conditions
Exerting 50 100 pounds occasionally 10 25 pounds frequently or up to 10 20 pounds constantly
Incumbent may be subjected to extreme temperatures wetness/humidity respiratory hazards and noise and vibration
Incumbent may be subjected to moving mechanical parts vibrations fumes odors dust poor ventilation chemicals oils extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions intense noises and travel
The work will occur in an office and field environment. While performing the duties and responsibilities the employee may be exposed to loud noise noxious odors unsanitary conditions chemicals electricity moving mechanical parts varying weather conditions and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes odors dust mists gases or poor ventilation
Protective Equipment Required
Must be capable of using various forms of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required to fulfill the requirements of the position
Special working environments include but are not limited to
Adult and juvenile detention facilities; medical facilities both detention and public health; forensics; courts; related justice facilities
