Elementary Principal

As a result of staffing changes Delta School District requires a Elementary Principal.

The Districts mission is to inspire and nurture thriving futureready learners at each of its 31 schools located in Ladner North Delta and Tsawwassen. Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent the Principal is responsible for the overall leadership management and operations of the secondary school. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff students parents and the community to provide an exceptional educational experience ensure student success and foster a safe respectful and inclusive school environment. The Principal will demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement and innovative practices that enhance the quality of education.

Key Responsibilities:

Competencies Required of Delta Principals include:

Educational Leadership and Vision:

  • Ability to inspire and motivate staff students and the community to achieve shared educational goals.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading a school or educational program with a focus on student achievement and wellbeing.
  • Strong strategic planning and decisionmaking skills with the capacity to manage complex educational environments.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to build strong respectful relationships with students staff parents and the community.
  • Strong conflict resolution and problemsolving abilities.

Instructional Leadership:

  • Indepth understanding of curriculum development assessment and teaching strategies that support student success.
  • The ability to lead professional development for staff that fosters innovation collaboration and continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
  • Expertise in creating inclusive learning environments that meet the needs of all students including those with diverse learning styles and backgrounds.

StudentCentered Focus:

  • A deep commitment to the academic social and emotional wellbeing of students.
  • An ability to create a safe supportive and inclusive school culture where students feel valued and motivated to succeed.
  • Experience with strategies for supporting atrisk students and promoting equity in education.

Operational and Organizational Management:

  • Proven experience in managing budgets resources staffing and facilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
  • Ability to make datainformed decisions that support school improvement and student success.

Commitment to Diversity Equity and Inclusion:

  • Demonstrated ability to foster an inclusive school culture that celebrates diversity and promotes equitable opportunities for all students.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within diverse student populations and the ability to address them effectively.

Collaborative Team Building:

  • Strong collaborative skills with the ability to work effectively with staff parents and the broader community to achieve common goals.
  • Ability to empower and support staff in their professional growth and in fostering a culture of teamwork and shared responsibility.
Requirements:
  • Valid British Columbia teaching certificate.
  • Masters degree in educational leadership Administration or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in educational leadership including experience as a Vice Principal.
  • Proven experience in leading educational change and school improvement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of the British Columbia curriculum and educational policies.
Starting Salary: $153567
