Job Description

Position Summary

Represents the School of the Art Institute of Chicago to prospective students on and off campus as well as virtually coordinating and executing the domestic regional recruitment of new undergraduate students. This position will play a key role in the admissions process and will be involved in the full range of recruitment activities including participating in substantive online experiences. Extensive travel along with evening and weekend work is required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in implementing the undergraduate recruitment strategy.
  2. Interviews counsels and registers prospective students.
  3. Represent SAIC at designated virtual and oncampus events to deliver presentations about SAIC and review portfolios of prospective students. These events include but are not limited to SAIC Days and National Portfolio Days.
  4. Visit both virtually and/or in person an assigned minimum number of community colleges high schools and community organizations within the territory to meet with art teachers college counselors and other educational professionals and deliver presentations about SAIC and review student art portfolios. The selection of the specific schools to be visited will be determined in conjunction with the Executive Director and formulated on the basis of historical data provided by the Admissions Office and previous years visits conducted by regional representatives.
  5. Complete file reviews required paperwork and data entry. Required documentation includes but is not limited to: school visit reports portfolio evaluations recruitment event reports travel and expense reports preparatory and followup phone contacts with teachers counselors and prospective students outreach initiatives with territory admits and merit scholarship recipients.
  6. Reviews admissions applications and portfolios.
  7. Maintains membership in professional organizations.
  8. Maintains an understanding of the latest trends in student recruitment and willingness to stay current regarding cultural competency knowledge and lead with a Diversity Equity and Inclusion lens.
  9. Liaises with student affairs and other academic departments as necessary.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.
