Job Description

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. High school diploma including one of the following:
  • An associates degree.
  • 48 semester hours of college credit from an accredited institution
  • Documentation verifying a passing score on the paraprofessional assessment test
  1. Proficient with technology appropriate for the position.
  2. Proficient in grammar skills.
  3. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO

Principal/Appropriate Supervisor

JOB GOAL

To plan coordinate analyze and perform the accounting functions of the school system.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs the functions of bookkeeping to include those of identifying assembling analyzing classifying recording and reporting system transactions to maintain accountability for the schools financial statements.
  2. Reviews accounting policies and procedures manual.
  3. Enters cash receipts for school transactions from documents received from other school personnel.
  4. Prepares bank deposits for depositing by other personnel.
  5. Matches invoices with appropriate purchase orders obtains approval for payment of invoices and contacts vendors to report any errors or shortages in shipments.
  6. Prepares and processes invoices for payment and submits to principal for approval.
  7. Prepares requisitions to order materials approved for purchase verifies request forms for accuracy and assists with ensuring that the proper accounting codes are used.
  8. Maintains a proper filing system and uptodate vendor list.
  9. Ensures bank statements are reconciled prior to preparation of monthly financial reports.
  10. Prints and reviews monthly and annual financial reports.
  11. Assists the principal in ensuring there are sufficient funds available to cover expenditures.
  12. Maintains a listing of fixed assets purchased over $5000 for reporting to the supervisor of business and finance.
  13. Assists the principal with finance related matters.
  14. Ensures all required reports are completed prior to yearend (i.e. fundraising donation reports).
  15. Assists with yearend school audit functions with external auditors by completing checklists and reports and reviewing prepared audited financial statements.
  16. Assists with field trips and Title I as requested.
  17. Performs other related duties as required.

This job may require lifting of objects that exceed 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  5. Manual Dexterity: Ability to move the hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers.
  6. Form Perception: To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures.
  7. Color Discrimination: Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color.
