Southside Racing operates highclass horse racing and training facilities at both Tynong and Cranbourne as well as three 7dayaweek hospitality and entertainment venues the Cardinia Club Club Officer and Silks Cranbourne. These are a vital part of our business and allow us to provide our members with a wide range of hospitality and entertainment options.

The opportunity

Southside Racing is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious individual to assume the role of Turf Groundsman at our Tynong facility. Reporting to the Racecourse Manager the role of Turf Groundsman will be to work to contribute to the performance of our Racing department and be key contributor to the success of our Tynong facility.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation and maintenance of both turf and synthetic training and racing surfaces.
• of major renovations on these surfaces when required.
• Operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment necessary for racecourse upkeep.
• Calibration and application of fertilisers and agrichemicals essential for sports turf surfaces.
• Maintenance of grounds and gardens within the facility.
• Collection and recordkeeping of data pertinent to training and racing surfaces.

Lets talk about you!

• Certificate III in Sports Turf Management
• Strong knowledge and experience in agrichemical and fertiliser application and irrigation use and maintenance is essential.
• A strong understanding of the machinery used in the curation of the racing and training and/or sports turf surfaces.
• Knowledge of equine racing and training surfaces of the industry is desirable but not essential. We can help you transition from sports fields or golf course management (or other similar turf management areas).
• Passion for horticulture turf maintenance or groundskeeping.
• Hands on highly motivated individual that takes pride in their work.
