The Marathon Petroleum Robinson Refinery is seeking highly motivated Refining Operator Trainees to join our team. Operators work together to monitor regulate troubleshoot and safely operate complex process equipment. Operators refine crude oil and other feedstocks into transportation fuels such as conventional gasoline diesel fuel jet fuel and other petroleum products.
Operators are responsible for monitoring units under their control while keeping product specs and yields at a maximum. Must be able to startup and shutdown the units and safely operate during process upsets power failures and mechanical failure. With knowledge of the process units must be able to assist other unit operators in their training and daytoday operations. Other primary responsibilities will include:
Managing and monitoring the outside equipment and control functions involved in the Refinery processes.
Gathering data from these functions and analyzing and interpreting it into appropriate action as operational adjustments or recommendations.
Providing assistance with unit startups shutdowns and emergency response.
Possessing an indepth knowledge of the physical portion of the plant.
Operators are expected to be able to wear all protective equipment including selfcontained breathing apparatus along with the ability to participate in emergency response activities.
Operators work in a safetysensitive environment and must successfully complete a rigorous preemployment assessment process drug/alcohol/medical screenings and a background check. To ensure safe operations new hires must also successfully complete operator qualification training and participate in random drug & alcohol screenings.
High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
At least 18 years of age.
Valid drivers license required.
Willing and able to work a 12hour rotating shift schedule including weekends nights holidays and overtime.
Must participate in preemployment assessment background check and drug/alcohol/medical screening.
Must successfully complete operator qualification training and participate in random drug & alcohol screenings.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a fulltime indefinite basis without the need for employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
Associates degree in Process Tech Technical/Chemical Power Plant Technology or related field preferred.
2 years experience as a process operator in the petrochemical or related industry preferred.
Good mechanical aptitude oral and written communication skills and ability to make sound decisions.
Ability to perform well in a team environment working with little supervision to prioritize daily work schedules depending on operational requirements.
Any combination equivalent to education and experience that provides the required knowledge and skills is qualifying.
Work performed at ground level and at heights on concrete metal grating gravel asphalt and piping surfaces while climbing over 75 feet lifting 40 pounds plus carrying 1020 pounds pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds with mechanical assistance and working in confined spaces wearing proper safety equipment including a selfcontained breathing apparatus as necessary use hand tools and work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Employees work a rotating Day/Night 12hour shift schedule (DuPont) from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. includes weekends holidays and overtime (required).
Pay range for position (reflects current pay rates subject to increase):
Starting Rate/Initial Training: $21.94 (approx. 4 weeks)
Outside/UnitBased Training: $25.77 (approx. 710 weeks)
Once Unit Qualified: $36.93
Top Progression: $52.03
Position eligible for Annual Cash Bonus plan with a target of 7 14 of annual eligible earnings.
