The Washington State Ferry (WSF) system is essential to Washingtons transportation network linking communities on both sides of Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. There are nearly 400 sailings each day on nine ferry routes. WSF transports nearly 19 million passengers a year and has more than 1800 employees. Employees perform a variety of duties on vessels in terminals at the maintenance facility and at the Seattle headquarters.
The Opportunity
WSDOT Office of Human Resources and Safety (OHRS)is currently seeking a Senior Human Resource Consultant (HRC) to support the WSF Division. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager this position serves as a professional expert providing advice and consultation to management and staff within its assigned customer groups. The Senior HRC is responsible for handling the organizations most sensitive complex and critical human resources issues and provides advice and guidance on a wide variety of strategic and operational topics. This position directly supports the agencys strategic plan and goal areas of Workforce Development; Diversity Equity and Inclusion; and Resilience by providing sound consultation to ensure equitable treatment and employment practices and by acting as a strategic thought and change partner for leadership.

This is a Human Resource Consultant 4 (HRC4 position. However the hiring manager reserves the right to fill the position at a lower level (HRC3 depending on qualifications providing an opportunity for an individual to gain the required experience on the job as part of a formal intraining plan.
