SMEC is seeking a strong and diverse pool of applicants for the position of School Adjustment Counselor. The School Adjustment Counselor provides individual group and asneeded instruction and support related to social/emotional skills and supports classroom staff in developing skills and strategies in this is a School Year Position 184 days) plus a 5 week parttime summer program. Valid certification as a school adjustment counselor from the MA Department of Education required. Benefits Eligible (Health Dental Life Insurances 457b/403b). This position qualifies for the Massachusetts Teachers Retirement System (MTRS) with applicable licensure. Local travel between programs is required to support students at different school submit resume cover letter copy of professional licensure transcripts and three current letters of reference via Duties:Able to develop and implement appropriate data driven culturally responsive instruction and individualized goals and to administer formal and informal assessments and analyze results in order to create diverse and interesting lessons goals and and maintains a culturally diverse purposeful respectful and stimulating treatment environment that is organized and positive in nature and geared towards student for attends and fully participates in student and staff ongoing professional growth and skills consistent with current research and practice in schoolbased counseling through inservices coursework evaluations and online completes documentation related to student incidents/injuries physical intervention and 51A reports and/or for providing appropriate and effective solutions to the obstacles met by students in their academic and social to student emotional difficulties in a timely manner; follows through with necessary paperwork to ensure student group and individual counseling to students as appropriate and indicated on their service delivery as a member of the Team contributing observations and collaborating in the development of an appropriate consultation to administrators and staff on student learning behavior social development and intervention the ability to listen and understand the concerns of all school community members in a way that encourages approachability while setting boundaries when dealing with parents and and interacts with parents and the community in a way that promotes a high level of open and honest him/herself clearly and confidently orally and in writing; capable of responding effectively in a public a culture that advocates and models responsible student decisionmaking and promotes positive behavior changes and students with direct instruction in all areas of socialemotional requested or directed provide training to staff in areas of all expected paperwork in a high quality manner within mandated/required respect and compassion for all members of the classroom and school environment including students families staff and other community all aspects of the educational day which may include activities of daily living (ADLs) such as toileting feeding transferring selfcare and assistance with mobility including utilizes any recommended adaptive equipment for individual in all required Collaborative inservices as well as those recommended by all significant occurrences to the appropriate supervisor in a respectful and timely an open honest and respectful relationship with parents and others involved with the students professional boundaries with parents and students.
