Job Description

This is a fulltime fixed term contract position 3year contract).

This is an identified position where Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander identity cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role.

We are looking for a Ranger that will support the establishment of Yitpi Yartapuultiku a new Aboriginal Cultural Centre in Port Adelaide.

Yitpi Yartapuultiku is a place where shared understanding between Aboriginal and nonAboriginal cultures is reached. The Ranger will play their part in supporting crosscultural approaches and relationships to create a strong foundation for Yitpi Yartapuultiku to be a place for Aboriginal and nonAboriginal people to learn experience and be immersed in Aboriginal culture.

This is more than a jobits a chance to contribute your skills culture and lived experience in a meaningful way.

As Ranger for Yitpi Yartapuultiku you will:

  • Implement the Yitpi Yartapuultiku site to be a place for healing with respect to cultural knowledge biodiversity living systems and importantly honours spiritual connection to Country and the waterways in the Port Adelaide region.
  • Develop new ways with Elders and custodians of incorporating cultural practices into the daytoday operations and management of Yitpi Yartapuultiku site.
  • Deliver best practice customer service and experiences across the Centre and outdoor site.
  • Ensure effective and appropriate management of built natural and cultural assets and resources across the Yitpi Yartapuultiku site.
  • Combine traditional knowledge and cultural practices to deliver positive environmental and social outcomes whilst keeping cultural practices maintained practiced and continued for future generations.
  • Work collaboratively with Elders custodians community members employees volunteers contractors and stakeholders.

Wed love to hear from you if you have:

  • Knowledge of Aboriginal cultures and connection with Country.
  • Conservation land management or environmental restoration experience highly regarded.
  • Cultural tourism educational or recreational experience.
  • Experience in the management and maintenance of facilities or reserves.

This is a Level 4 position which has a current salary range of $94525 $101474 per annum (plus Superannuation).
