COMPENSATION: $35.40 to $38.64 per hour

INTRODUCTION:

New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited childrens mental health agency providing a range of compassionate innovative and accessible services for children youth and their families throughout Simcoe County.New Path respectfully acknowledges we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishnaabeg people which include the Odawa Ojibwe and Pottawatomi Nations collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy.


PURPOSE OF POSTION:

The Brief Counsellor provides shorter term individual family and group counselling to children youth and their families at home in school and throughout the community using a brief model of intervention.

This position participates in the myDAWN pathway (Depression Anxiety Wellness and Navigation). A newly formed partnership with the Georgian Bay Family Health Team where Family Doctors and Counsellors work together to offer seamless and timely mental health care to support to our mutual clients. QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W..
  2. Minimum 2 years experience working with children youth and their families in a childrens mental health or related service.
  3. Experience/training in Single Session Counselling.
  4. Experience working with evidence based/informed programs.

  6. Recognizes initiates and adapts to changing conditions and situations in the workplace.
  7. Demonstrates awareness for the backgrounds values beliefs and traditions of staff clients families and communities we serve.
  8. Continuously assesses and challenges assumptions personal unconscious bias and commits to understanding diverse perspectives experiences and their intersectionality.
  9. Commits to ongoing training to build the knowledge awareness and skills that contribute to a creating a culturally safe environment for staff clients and families.
  10. Competency and effective use of database and Microsoft Office systems.
  11. Confident articulate and professional when communicating verbally and in writing.
  12. French language is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be available to provide 4 hours per week of direct service to clients after 5 p.m. (evening appointments) to accommodate client and family schedules.
  2. Willingness to travel to other agency offices and the community using personal vehicle. Must have valid drivers license with minimum G2.
  3. Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
