Albert Uster Imports Inc. (AUI) is a privately held gourmet food company headquartered in the Washington DC area (Gaithersburg MD) with warehouse locations in Kansas City Las Vegas Miami Los Angeles San Francisco Gurnee and Gaithersburg. Founded in 1968 the company offers over 1400 products from around the world. We serve leading hotels restaurants casinos cruise lines airlines and manufacturers with innovative high quality products and solutions to their most demanding culinary challenges. We operate a network of distribution centers across the U.S. and serve select international markets as well. AUI has a national direct selling organization of over 60 sales professionals and a staff of culinary experts (chefs and food scientists) adept at custom product solutions.
ABOUT THE ROLE
AUI is seeking a Division Controller. The Division Controller is primarily responsible for directing the companys accounting activities in alignment with corporate strategy established financial principles and government regulations. In addition this role is responsible for proactively coordinating all financial operations activities including accounting accounts payable accounts receivable cash management and management reporting.
This role oversees a team of 10 people and will report directly to the Corporate Controller of Roland Foods.
As a response to the pandemic Albert Uster Imports office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule requiring employees to report inperson Monday through Wednesday with the option to telework on Thursday and Friday each week. Due to the collaborative crossfunctional nature of the organization employees at the Gaithersburg office are required to work inperson for the abovementioned days outside of any People & Cultureapproved disability accommodation request.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage all aspects of the monthend close process including reviewing journal entries prepared by staff reviewing accruals and reserve support and ensuring the general ledger is complete materially accurate and closed timely and in accordance with internal and external reporting requirements
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of operating results and financial position in accordance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Review and participate in the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts ensuring accounts are reconciled timely and reconciling items are addressed appropriately
- Oversee and direct accounting department including treasury cash application payroll accounts payable and accounts receivable while promoting process efficiencies and ensuring compliance with internal and external policies and reporting requirements
- Coordinate external audits and tax filings of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and local state and federal statutes.
- Prepare adhoc analysis as needed by management
- Identify and resolve process / system inefficiencies and drive process improvements while ensuring a strong system of internal controls
- Hire manage motivate coach and formally evaluate the performance of all direct reports
- Establish strong relationships with intracompany peers and be the goto accounting resource
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
Required
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience including prior experience as a Controller or similar position within a $50 million revenue entrepreneurial highgrowth organization; 2 years of public accounting experience preferred
- Experience leading managing and developing accounting teams
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP internal controls and financial reporting
- Proficiency with MS Dynamics/GP or similar ERP System
Preferred
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong analytical/problemsolving skills with outstanding attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with manage motivate and support the teams staff
- Prior inventory experience
SALARY RANGE
We hire exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways we do that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $145000 $165000.
This role will be bonuseligible.
Based on your qualifications previous experience and transferrable skills the Company will determine at its sole discretion the salary offered.
