The Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable professional to join our team as a Senior Technical Advisor Electricity Networks. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your expertise in the electricity network industry while shaping the development of critical industry standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide subject matter expertise on the safe and reliable operation of electricity networks customer connections service equipment and solar/battery installations.
  • Provide input to ministerial and departmental communications in matters regarding electricity networks the accredited service provider (ASP) scheme and electricity network safety issues.
  • Manage electricity industry forums including the NSW Service and Installation Rules committee NSW Industry Safety Steering Committee (ISSC) and interagency/internal working groups.
  • Provide technical input to policy teams particularly in the area of consumer energy policy (solar battery microgrids community batteries and other consumer energy resources) development.
  • Acting as the Departments point of contact for policy teams and external enquiries regarding electricity industry standards and practices.

About You

To be successful in this role you should possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in electricity networks customer connections/service equipment the NSW Service and Installation Rules and the ASP Scheme while relevant experience with solar and battery installations is also highly desirable.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills with the ability to work across multiple committees and working groups to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent communication skills particularly the ability to convey complex technical matters in clear accessible language for nontechnical audiences.
