Job Description
What will the role involve
You will write and develop stories with great pictures and engaging video. You will deliver a fast turnaround on major news stories across the UK and around the world and bring in exclusive stories that set us apart from our rivals. You will show an understanding of the brands key content and quickly develop a feel for the stories that work best for our online readers.
All while ensuring that every piece of content is researched and published in accordance with the Editors Code of practice. You will be confident using a range of digital formats and quickly identify breaking news by utilising social media.
You will be expected to pitch ideas and stories on a daily basis by utilising analytics to gain a thorough understanding of exactly what our audience wants to read using this information to influence our ideas.
Qualifications :
Who are we looking for
An experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and media law knowledge you have a strong track record of delivering a wide range of engaging human interest and hard hitting stories at a national or major regional title while understanding what works for a digital audience.
You have a deep understanding of the biggest ongoing stories around the world and have the ability to flip between covering hard hitting news such as the war in Ukraine to lighter pieces such as tourism fears in British holiday hotspots.
You have first rate editing writing and subbing skills relish the test of working under pressure and to tight deadlines. Youre social media savvy with current SEO knowledge and ideally youre familiar with newsroom analytics and content management systems. Youre flexible inquisitive and are on the pulse of what makes a great story!
