Alpha Mediais looking for two Chief Engineers to support four of its Iowa and four of its Minnesota markets. The ideal candidate must have a broadand deep knowledge of radio broadcasting technical systems and equipment to ensure reliable high quality audio transmission and knowledge of FCC regulations. The ideal candidate works well under pressure creates solutions is resourceful and diligent. The position requires individuals who can interact productively with vendors and nontechnical coworkers.
Responsibilities for this position include: - Compliance with FCC regulations and station policies regarding broadcasting standards.
- Maintenance of safety protocols in all engineering practices.
- Inspection and maintenance on a regular basis of broadcasting equipment including transmitters audio consoles and studio gear. Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on all technical systems.
- Monitoring of audio quality and signal strength during radio broadcasts and the ability to quickly troubleshoot as needed.
- Under the direction of Corporate IT completion of all necessary procedures and paperwork relating to market computer systems needs.
- Overseeing theinstallation of new equipment and technologies. Including the planning and implementation of upgrades to existing systems.
- Clear professional and productive communication with employees who do not have technical nor programming background.
- Development of clear instructions relating to simple tasks for nontechnical employees to understand and perform.
- Maintaining accurate equipment inventory maintenance logs and technical schematics. This includes the preparation of reports relating to technical issues and solutions as they arise.
Requirements of this position include the following: - A minimum of two years radio broadcasting engineering experience
- Knowledge of FCC Regulations.
- This position requires a fully insured personal vehicle and a valid drivers license.
- Available to travel to various market locations and tower candidate is required to provide a safe driving record covering the past three years.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be able to develop collaborative relationships with market staff so that market staff can help troubleshoot effectively when an engineer is off site.
- Available to be on call for emergencies and be proactive about coverage when unavailable
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with vendors as needed.
- The role requires an enthusiastic and hardworking person who exudes positivity in its interactions with others.
