Job Summary

The Director of Engagement Events provides leadership and professional expertise in the planning and of engagement and advancement events designed to cultivate and/or recognize alumni donors and prospects consistent with the strategic focus and image of Rensselaer. The Director reports to the Associate Vice President of Alumni Engagement and works with the members of the Division of Institute Advancement and the campus community to collaboratively plan highquality events and functions and ensures that high standards and engagement priorities are reflected in the planning and presentation of events. The Director organizes and manages onsite and offsite of events with other Institute departments to ensure that activities are conducted smoothly and follow appropriate protocol.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree required
Seven 7 years of experience managing and planning a wide variety of goal driven events including experience with high profile and distinguished guests.

Relevant combinations of education training and experience may be considered.

Minimum Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated project management time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage details of multiple and complex projects within firm schedules
Ability to set priorities that effectively carry out event goals in a manner that enhances the image of Rensselaer
Ability to formulate creative ideas and to analyze evaluate and negotiate details reflective of a successful event
Demonstrated integrity dependability sound judgment teambuilding and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative positive and effective working relationships with multiple and diverse constituency groups
Strong oral and written communications skills
Proficiency in MS Office suite products
Knowledge of budgeting and financial procedures and reporting
Ability to apply management principles practices and techniques to ensure the effective administration of the business unit and to ensure that goals and priorities are accomplished

Shift

Business Hours with weekends or evenings occasionally required

Travel

Occasional overnight travel may be required(10 or less)

Driving

Driving a personal vehicle for nonpassenger use

Starting Salary/Rate

Expected hiring range: $105000 $120000 per year

Pay transparency disclosure: The selected candidates salary will be determined based on factors that include the available budget internal equity and the final candidates qualifications experience education and other jobrelated credentials. This hiring range is provided as Rensselaers good faith estimate of the expected hiring range at the time of posting.
