Job Description

Program Coordinator for the Enjimaawnjiding Project to support traditional knowledge keepers in sharing the experiences of Anishinaabe communities in Michigan. This position is for 10 hours per week running April 2025April 2026.

Salary: This is an hourly position and will paid $24.00 per hour. This position is grant funded.

The Enjimaawnjiding (place of gathering) Project is a collaborative project between the Division of People Equity and Culture Division of Academic Affairs (including the Brooks College of Interdisciplinary Studies College of Liberal Arts and Sciences University Libraries and the PEW Faculty Teaching and Learning Center) and the Native American Advisory Council funded by the Native American Heritage Fund to support a TwoEyed Seeing instructional approach to a small number of undergraduate classrooms. As part of this project students will benefit from classes taught by both GVSU faculty and Indigenous/Traditional Knowledge Keepers (ITKKs) to support increased awareness and respect of Anishinaabe histories sovereign rights and current experiences of Anishinaabe communities in Michigan.

The Program Coordinator will facilitate the overall goals of the project by working with GVSU faculty and staff Indigenous/Traditional Knowledge Keepers and communicate ongoing work to stakeholders both within GVSU and external to the University. This is a temporary grantfunded position reporting to the Enjimaawnjiding Project PIs (leadership team).

Job Duties

Assist in:

  • Developing initial drafts of project updates including marketing materials and community project updates

  • Developing Planning and Implementing August 2025 Workshop with ITKKs and GVSU faculty for TwoEyed Seeing coteaching pedagogy

  • Locating and preliminarily reviewing potential curricular resources pursuant to the project

  • Support for ITKKs and GVSU collaborators

  • Coordinating communications between stakeholders in the project

  • Attending program meetings taking minutes and providing these minutes to the PIs

  • Provide weekly status updates to PIs on work processes

  • Additional duties as assigned by PIs needed to support project goals

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Demonstrated experience of work with Michigan Indigenous communities

  • Communications and/or marketing experience

  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • Experience with educational and/or cultural programming
