Job Description
Department Overview
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) is seeking OB/GYN Hospitalist faculty providers at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level.
The Assistant Professor is a faculty member credentialed and privileged as an MD with completion of an Ob/Gyn Residency and may have independent surgical experience necessary to provide a fullscope practice. The Assistant Professor is a member of the OHSU Professional Staff practicing in accordance with the respective bylaws. The Assistant Professor shall provide inpatient and outpatient clinical services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the universitys missions and goals of teaching research patient care outreach and public service. The Assistant Professor is expected to comply with all laws regulations OHSU policy and other applicable professional standards of practice.
Function/Duties of Position
Clinical Activities
- Participation in the development and delivery of the group clinical practice at the Center for Womens Health and offsite OHSU Health Partners including full spectrum obstetrics and gynecology
- Maintaining a fairshare of obstetrics and gynecology call some of which will require onsite presence at OHSU and/or offsite OHSU Health Partners
- Participate in the surgical mentorship for 1 year to hone surgical skills and gain case volume
Scholarly Activities
Like all OHSU faculty members Assistant Professors are expected to have some scholarly activity; this may be limited to educating learners as outlined below but may also include research and other grant supported work or academic papers and presentations in disciplines related to their field of expertise. Faculty members are expected to participate in clinical research as needed often with the help of trained research support staff and senior faculty principal investigators.
Education
- This position provides clinical education to fellows residents and medical students participating in Obstetrics and Gynecology rotations. The Assistant Professor may also help with clinical teaching of nurse and APP trainees. As part of the multidisciplinary team charged with educating learners in the outpatient clinic environment this person would be expected to provide feedback and evaluation both formally and informally of learners working in obstetrics and gynecology.
Administrative Activites
As an OHSU faculty member this position would be required to participate in faculty meetings at the division and department level and serve on OHSU committees and in other activities as requested by the department chair or division head in furtherance of division department or OHSU goals and objectives.
Required Qualifications
- MD Degree
- Oregon licensure
- Completion of an Obstetrics and Gynecology residency
- Boardcertified or boardeligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- Potential for academic accomplishment
