CLASS SUMMARY: Under general direction incumbent(s) coaches sports activities to students including creating game plans observing practice drills and explaining safety rules and history of the sport. Incumbent(s) schedules activities and tournaments prepares area of use and sets up appropriate staff needed to carry out practices and games.

Creates game plans. Creates practice drills to implement game plan during competition. Observes students during practice to detect and correct mistakes. Oversees students during competition and tournaments.

Schedules buses staff referees custodial and cafeteria that are needed to carry out practices and games. Ensures students are picked up by appropriate person(s). Prepares area of use (i.e. gym field etc..

Communicates expectations status schedules and rules of the athletic program to the school administration staff parents and students. Holds parentathlete meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

To be eligible for this position an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. In addition verification of these required qualifications is necessary.

High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D. prior to being hired.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.

Bachelors degree in Education;

One year of teaching experience;

Valid Arizona Department of Education Teacher Certificate.
