The UWO Counseling Center has an opportunity to join a talented supportive and fun counseling team in serving our amazing Titan students. Our counselors provide individual and group counseling wellness and psychoeducational services crisis and case management consultation outreach and training. Working in a college setting with students who are open and invested in their wellness is one of the best mental health work environments. We are committed to supporting the overall wellness of every student in an inclusive positive and caring way.

Please note this is a 0.9 FTE position which allows for decreased hours when classes are not in session. For example the Counseling Center may be open Monday through Thursday 9:00 am to 3:00 pm during weeks of break (compared to typical operating hours of Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm).

Responsibilities

Provides professional mental health counseling and consultation services for the campus community incorporates a brief therapeutic model to address the emotional and behavioral needs of students creates developmental programming to increase healthy lifestyle and coping behaviors across campus and advocates for strategic university mental health policy and initiatives.

  • Provides individual therapy and crisis intervention to students struggling with developmental and/or personal mental health issues and refers students to community resources as needed.
  • Facilitates skillbuilding and processoriented groups.
  • Provides oncall coverage on rotating basis during operating hours.
  • Prepares presentations and outreach activities and facilitates student adjustment and success programs to promote a healthy campus.
  • Opportunities to oversee areas of coordination within the counseling team and serve on multidisciplinary campus committees.
QualificationsRequired:
  • Masters Degree in mental health related field.
  • Ability to be fully licensed in the state of Wisconsin within one year of employment.
  • Commitment to diversity equity and inclusion.
  • Risk assessment and treatment experience.
Preferred:
  • PhD in mental health field preferred.
  • Fully licensed in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Previous employment in a college counseling center.
  • At least four 4 years post graduate work in a mental health setting.
