Position Description Summary
Provide supplemental instruction by facilitating group study sessions for specific course(s). Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Attend all scheduled classes of the selected course take notes and read all assigned materials Utilizing strategies from SI Leader training conduct at least one but possibly up to three 50minute study sessions per week throughout the term Meet regularly with the SI Supervisor for debrief sessions Discuss observations of the SI sessions Discuss the planning of SI sessions and use of a wide variety of learning strategies Notify SI Supervisor of problems or concerns With prior approval from supervisor provide extra SI sessions and/or marathon sessions as necessary (e.g. prior to examinations) Be aware of all course requirements test schedules and project/paper deadlines Maintain contact with course faculty member throughout the semester Attend SI Leader training workshops Work with the SI Supervisor to select appropriate times and scheduling of SI sessions (may include some evenings and/or weekends when necessary) Make periodic announcements about the availability of the SI sessions Ensure that surveys (initial SI survey and endofcourse survey) are distributed and assist with data analysis Collect attendance data for every SI session including student names course title date and time of session Assist SI Supervisor in the preparation of endofterm reports and other reports as requested Maintain a professional attitude about matters such as class standards grades and student complaints Model appropriate professional attitudes and behaviors to staff faculty students and others Provide SI Supervisor with an uptodate schedule of your SI sessions Notify SI Supervisor in advance if you cannot conduct an SI session as scheduled Be familiar with and work within the parameters of all FERPA regulations Abide by all University policies Other duties as assigned by the SI Supervisor Student positions are open to individuals enrolled in a minimum of 6 TRAD credits at UNW .
Required Qualifications
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above is required Contentcompetency is required; student who previously attended the assigned course with the current faculty member and obtained a grade of 3.0 or above is preferred Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required Must be detail oriented organized and selfdisciplined Able to maintain confidential information Able to work independently and take initiative Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and/or weekends when necessary Understanding of and agreement with Northwesterns Declaration of Christian Community and Doctrinal Statement is essential
