Position Overview
Echtra Games is looking for an exceptional Gameplay Technical Director to join the team and help craft Echtras next exciting crossplatform AAA ARPG game. Do you love gameplay systems Do you have deep expertise in Unreal Engine 5 Are you a leader who can bring the best out of your team Are you one of the few people who can ship a AAA game
We are looking for an experienced gameplay engineering leader to tackle tough projects manage and mentor a group of gameplay engineers and maintain engineering standards and best practices. You are an excellent verbal and written communicator who is detail oriented and can work across disciplines to solve hard problems and deliver fun gameplay. You must have familiarity with the gameplay systems that are required to build ARPGs an unquenchable desire to create and strong knowledge of working with Unreal.
Echtra Games is a medium sized game studio in San Francisco with a team of veteran game developers and visionary newcomers who work both onsite and remotely. At Echtra we value diversity and support worklife balance. We also have great benefits an open vacation policy and flexible schedules!
Main Responsibilities
- Responsible for the gameplay engineering team and results.
- Understand game designs and systems and make them a reality.
- Lead and mentor a team of gameplay engineers.
- Collaborate with other engineers designers and artists to craft a great gameplay experience.
- Use your knowledge of the games design to ensure systems and designs are faithfully and completely implemented in the game in a timely fashion.
Requirements
- Experience shipping AAA games in a leadership role.
- Deep knowledge of the latest versions of Unreal
- Experience owning large gameplay systems from implementation to shipping.
- Strong knowledge of C
Pluses:
- Team management experience.
- Independent development experience.
- Experience building a 3rd person RPG ARPG or Looter Shooter.
