We offer an opportunity for

a collaborative equityminded leader to serve as Vice President of Student Services (VPSS). The VPSS is responsible for creating assessing and continuously improving the policies processes and practices necessary to: facilitate equitable student learning and success; deliver excellent service; and accomplish the work of the student services division. The VP of Student Services is the Chief Student Services Officer and is responsible for the overall design organization delivery supervision evaluation and fiscal management of a comprehensive student services program. This position reports directly to the college President and works collaboratively with the Vice President of Instructional Services and the Vice President of Administrative Services.

What you will do

The Vice President of Student Services is responsible for leading the Student Services division and performs the following duties:


Service Delivery

  • Oversee admissions athletics student housing registration student records financial aid advising student life and student engagement.
  • Create promote and administer student services and programs with students faculty staff and community.
  • Provide direction and leadership for recruiting students marketing college programs and developing outreach programs to enhance cultural diversity and student enrollment.
  • Work closely with information technology systems to ensure the effective use of technology in areas related to student access support services and student success.

Unit Leadership

  • Oversee the recruitment evaluation and talent management of staff within the Student Services unit to promote innovation excellence equity inclusion and belonging across the college community.
  • Inspire a diverse group of employees through mentoring professional development and coaching; provide leadership coordination and oversight for the colleges Student Services unit.
  • Oversee and manage the annual budget for all Student Services operations.

Strategic and Operational Planning

  • Develop goals and strategies to ensure the achievement of college priorities.
  • Develop and implement Strategic Enrollment Management plan responsive to community needs and informed by forecasting and monitoring of student enrollment.
  • Maintain a strong commitment to equityminded assessment practices using data to inform decisionmaking budgetary planning and operational planning.

College Leadership

  • Foster inclusive communication and collaboration among all faculty staff and students; develop equitable processes and procedures.
  • Cultivate relationships with local K12 education community organizations and higher education leaders; collaborate with other college leaders to design lead and support initiatives leveraging community partnerships and relationships to maximize equitable learning opportunities and outcomes for all learners.
  • Dismantle systems and barriers to better achieve equitable student learning and outcomes.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other college leadership to support cocurricular programming and align student needs with instructional programming.
Requirements

What you bring.

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution is required; prefer Masters degree in administration education planning or one of the disciplines taught at the college.
  • Three or more years of administrative or management experience in an environment involving areas such as strategic planning budgeting supervision student development and community relations.
  • Experience in postsecondary education; teaching and/or administration preferred.
  • Demonstrated engagement in professional development related to student development and/or student affairs as evidenced by membership in professional associations etc.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for student success persistence and completion.
  • Experience promoting equityminded policies and practices; experience in responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability gender identity sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees.
  • Experience overseeing or administering student housing and/or athletics is preferred.

Columbia Gorge Community College serves a diverse region in northcentral Oregon and southcentral Washington. CGCC acknowledges we are on the homelands of the Confederated Tribe of the Yakama Nation and neighboring tribes as well as the 14 bands along the Inchi Iwana (Columbia River). Our main campus is within the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area in The Dalles Oregon. We also have a beautiful campus in the city of Hood River.

Organizations like Comunidades The Columbia River InterTribal Fish Commission Washington Gorge Action Programs and The Next Door are representative of the groups that span the Gorge area to provide community resources and leadership. Portland is roughly an hour away with its various urban attractions and access to international travel.
