Battery technology is recognized as the linchpin in Fords pivotal initiative to Lead the Electrification Revolution and Ford Ion Park is responsible for the delivering innovative advanced battery cell technology and manufacturing techniques to meet this objective.
What youll do...
Develop and implement testing protocols and plans for evaluating battery cell performance including capacity cycle life charge/discharge rates and thermal stability.
Conduct performance tests and analyze test data using statistical and data analysis software.
Perform cell teardown conduct failure mode analysis and root cause analysis using various characterization tools
Develop and integrate software tools/scripts to automate and control test environments (e.g. using MATLAB Python or LabVIEW)
Evaluate future EV battery cell technologies to support down selection and targeted vehicle applications through tests and modeling
Collaborate with external and internal partners to develop scalable costefficient manufacturing techniques that support highspeed manufacturing of new battery technology.
Transfer knowledge to key partners in various forms including Technical Design Reviews and documentation of procedures.

Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Chemical Mechanical or Electrical) Mathematics Materials Science Applied Physics Chemistry Electrochemistry
3 years of experience in battery celllevel performance and life cycle characterization methods and associated dedicated test equipment. Handson experience and expertise in cell tear down battery failure analysis performance testing safety test and material characterization
3years of experience in development of advanced battery cell technologies (graduate studies can be considered)
Direct experience in battery testing software CAD and CAE software programming languages and/or control and automation software
Demonstrated record of teamoriented research and engineering
Noncitizens must have the ability to receive a license to legally work with Export Controlled technology in the USA
Excellent communication skills in English (both written and spoken)

Advanced Degree in Engineering (Chemical Mechanical or Electrical) Mathematics Materials Science Applied Physics Chemistry Electrochemistry
5 years of experience in development of advanced battery cell technologies in the following battery categories: solid state electrolytes advanced high energy cathodes/anodes fast charging battery safety and pilot manufacturing line design.
Previous experience with rolltoroll calendaring and other processes in battery manufacturing and advanced knowledge in troubleshooting manufacturing defects
Previous experience working in a major highvolume battery cell supplier and/or automotive OEM or Tier I supplier in a research production or development role involving energy storage
Previous experience with cell performance modeling tools
Familiarity with production quality metrics and processes
