THE OPPORTUNITY

Triton Environmental Consultants Ltd. (Triton) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Inspectors to join a wellestablished team of environmental professionals!

This role can be based in any of Tritons BC wide locations such as Prince George BC Vancouver BC Kamloops BC Vernon BC Terrace BC and Prince Rupert BC.

This position will appeal to individuals with a passion for working in the field and who thrive in a construction environment. Successful candidates will be part of a team building world classprojects that balance environmental protection with development. Responsibilities include:

Environmental inspection of pipeline construction and integrity dig projects

Monitor compliance with applicable environmental requirements and commitments relevant to pipeline construction and operations

Advise construction personnel on major decisions such as weather shutdowns or courses of action to deal with unexpected environmental conditions

Act as a liaison with local provincial and federal regulatory agencies

Monitor the implementation of Environmental Protection Plans (EPP) and Environmental Management Plans (EMP) during construction activities

Recommend best practices and mitigation measures to manage environmental concerns during construction

Monitor topsoil stripping topsoil replacement and seeding

Recommend erosion and sediment control measures and monitor installation

Oversee watercourse or waterbody crossings ensuring compliance with project requirements and regulatory conditions

Conduct water quality sampling and turbidity monitoring during dewatering and waterbody crossing activities

Monitor water diversions and withdrawals

Conduct wildlife surveys migratory and breeding bird/nest surveys and amphibian salvages

Perform equipment inspections for fluid leaks and assist with spill prevention and response

Monitor environmental aspects of other pipeline activities such as hydrostatic test dewatering hydrovac operations and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) waste management ensuring adherence to various regulatory requirements

Prepare daily inspection reports environmental summaries and environmental postconstruction reports

Attend project and safety meetings

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

. or technical diploma in biology forestry agriculture environmental science or related similar

Relevant professional designation is an asset (e.g. RPBio )

A minimum of 2 years of relevant environmental inspection and monitoring experience for development projects in western Canada

Pipeline construction knowledge and experience

Thorough understanding of applicable provincial and federal environmental legislation regulations and policies to ensure projectspecific compliance

Experience conducting fish salvages water quality monitoring preconstruction bird and nest surveys and amphibian salvages

Adept in the operation and maintenance of required field equipment

Ability to identify and mitigate issues rapidly to ensure compliance within an active construction work environment

Strong analytical problemsolving and decisionmaking abilities

Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients contractors agencies and coworkers

Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Able to do shift work out of town

Physically fit and able to work in all weather conditions

Valid drivers license from a Canadian province or Territory acceptable for driving alone and with passengers in a work setting

SCHEDULE

This position will be primarily field based with shift rotations and some camp/hotel stays. The schedule could vary and is determined by client schedules.

COMPENSATION

The compensation range for this position is $28 $50 per hour being dependent on candidate qualifications and experience.
