Job Description
This is a general posting that will serve to create a pool of applicants for adjunct faculty openings throughout theacademic year. Should we have an opening and be interested in pursuing your application we will contact you with specific information.
The Department of Communication Studies calls students to engage communication meaningfully creatively ethically and with intellectual curiosity in order to enhance their personal and public lives as well as contribute to a sustainable common good. The department offers a BA and a minor in communication studies and we are seeking adjunct instructors to expand our capacity to serve our programs.
Classes run in 10week sessions. Though the Universitys administrative offices are open Monday Friday 8:00 am 4:30 pm faculty schedules vary from term to term and are based on courses taught service commitments and research agendas. Adjunct instructors are needed to teach a variety of communication studies courses across the academic year. Instructors may be hired to teach one course or multiple courses.
Essential Functions
- Teaching classes primarily in a fully inperson modality
- Grading student work
- Meeting with students during office hours and corresponding with students via email
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Excellent teaching ability
Required Qualifications
- M.A. in communication studies or related field
- Experience teaching communication studies courses at the university level
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in communication studies

Course Rate
The course rate for 202425 is $5060 for a 4credit course.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
