MAINTENANCE MECHANIC2 (MM2 Clallam Bay Corrections Center
Full Time Permanent
Location: Clallam Bay WA

Salary Range: $5855 $6785 monthly


The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the Maintenance Mechanic 2 (MM2 position at Clallam Bay Corrections Center.

Clallam Bay Corrections Center is a 900 bed male facility located on the point of the Olympic Peninsula. It is 50 miles west of Port Angeles and looks out over the Strait of Juan de Fuca at Vancouver Island. This facility houses medium and close custody incarcerated individuals. CBCC also operates a Restricted Housing Unit.

Whether the work is inside a prison in community corrections or in an administrative office the Washington State Department of Corrections professional staff experience a high degree of personal satisfaction knowing they are creating environments in which all Incarcerated Individuals can learn to make choices that contribute to a safer society.

Duties

As aMaintenance Mechanic 2 (MM2some of your duties will include:

  • Perform sustainable practices to include garbage and recycle hauling and pickup for the entire facility. Operate trucks in hauling garbage and other materials to outside facilities.
  • Establish facilitywide schedule for recyclable collection (paper cardboard batteries shredded paper etc.
  • Arrange for vendor pickup of all recyclables and garbage.
  • Direct and supervise a crew of 110 incarcerated workers engaged in maintenance repair replacement and modifications and completion of service requests related to vehicles heavy equipment construction and building equipment as well as small engines and other hydraulic and motorized special purpose equipment. Supervise and direct incarcerated crew with OCC Officer in maintaining outside facility grounds. Conduct new incarcerated orientation track attendance initiate appropriate disciplinary action write CBCC/OCC monthly performance reviews and complete and submit appropriate accident and injury reports.
  • Review assigned Service Requests (SR) and Preventative Maintenance (PM) and complete as assigned by priority.
  • Maintain accurate records and documents for compliance issues per policy and WACs.
  • Operate plow dump sand and box trucks and other equipment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma GED or equivalent.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Four 4 years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance construction or repair work ORcompletion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
  • Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
  • Working knowledge in the following: vehicle repair and body work heavy equipment and equipment repair small engine repair outside grounds maintenance.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of a recycling program.
  • Forklift trained (can be obtained on site with our trainer).
