Job Description

The University of Iowa Community Clinics intends to hire for twopositions at either theImaging Technologist classificationor Senior Imaging Technologist based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The University of Iowa Community Clinics is seeking a patient centered90 Senior /Imaging Technologist 36 hours)to work in our UICC Urgent Care Clinics. This position is responsible for perform diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment explain examination procedures to patients and monitor their status and instruct students and staff on examination and equipment operations and ensures all imaging protocols are being used position comes with the University of Iowas generousfull benefit packageincluding doublematch retirement paid vacation and sick leave free parking and much more.Selective candidates eligible for a signon bonus of $10000. Current UI employees are not eligible.

Percent of Time:90 36 hours a week)

Schedule: Variable hours Monday through Friday 07002130 rotating holidays. We are open to discussing flexible scheduling options that meet both the needs of our employees and the requirements of the business. See example schedule below.

    • Week 1: Mon Tues Wed
    • Week 2: WedThurs Fri
  • Example Schedule 2:
    • MonFri(two days per week work until 1500
  • Example Schedule 3:
    • MonFri(two days per week come in at 1330

Pay Grade:see below.

Salary Pay Structure SEIU: UI Community Clinicswill be filling this position at one of two levels.

The Imaging Technologist classification salary is 4.

The Senior Imaging Technologist classification salary is 5.

You must indicate in your cover letter the level of classification (Imaging Technologistand/or Senior Imaging Technologist) you wish to be considered for or indicate required qualifications for additional information.

Position Responsibilities:

Operate adjust and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized diagnostic equipment.

Maintain operate and troubleshoot and report equipment failures.

Instruct trainees students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.

Explain examination process to patients.

Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures.

Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation I.V. placement vital sign monitoring and recording and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.

Performs proficiency testing for the lab; runs all controls; maintains logbooks.

Works closely with all inspectors.

Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.

Schedules test procedures and admissions outside the clinic as directed by LIP.

Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and radiologic supplies

Assist with inventory ordering supplies and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital departmental and clinical unit standards.

Maintain knowledge of technical developments software updates and related subjects by attending meetings continuing education programs and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.

Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.

Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.

Works independently with limited supervision.

Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of RadiologyTechnology or subspecialty students on a clinical rotation.

Participates in training employees in equipment operation patient movement and quality assurance.

Assist in creating schedules vacation planning oncall coverage

Provides an additional support function for clinical operations. (Example ordering)

Ability to respond to audit inquires including imaging and safety.

Drivers License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Leads audit and improvement efforts for accrediting bodies.

Education Requirements

Senior Imaging Technologist: A bachelors degree in radiologic technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.

Imaging Technologist: Requires Successful completion of twoyear or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
