Job Description

General Summary

Highline College is currently inviting applications for adjunct clinical faculty for the 202223 academic year. Seeking dynamic candidates who will demonstrate the ability to use equityminded approaches to teaching and learning for racially ethnically linguistically and socioeconomically diverse students including designing curriculum pedagogy and assessments relevant to students; valuing what students already know; and empowering students to demonstrate knowledge in multiple ways as appropriate for the discipline and program. The successful candidate will work in direct patient care clinical settings with students virtual simulation classrooms facetoface simulation and skills lab instruction or some combination thereof. This position works under the guidance of a lead faculty and the supervision of the Nursing Program Director. Clinical shifts and lab classes generally fall on Mondays and Tuesdays or Thursdays and Fridays depending on the course taught and clinical placement. The position requires employees to travel to clinical sites and may include day evening and/or weekend shifts.

DID YOU KNOW Highline College is in the process of implementing guided pathways as a campuswide transformation strategy designed to improve student success and decrease equity gaps. HC received a federally funded fiveyear Title III grant in October 2020 designed to support our guided pathways work. HC is also developing a new EquityFirst Strategic Plan with broad campus participation.

Essential Tasks

RESPONSIBILITIES OF PARTTIME FACULTY:

  • Provide instruction supervision and evaluation for students in the clinical setting;
  • Ensure course activities are consistent with program guidelines;
  • Complete Canvas training modules and be able to teach within this learning platform;
  • Maintain communication with students faculty and program director;
  • Maintain current unencumbered WA licensure for Registered Nursing;
  • Pursue professional development to stay current in the field of nursing and nursing education;
  • Comply with applicable state and federal laws and regulations;
  • Maintain and submit institutional and state records and reports on a timely basis;
  • Maintain a standard of honest and ethical behavior;
  • Assume reasonable responsibility for care and safekeeping of College supplies and equipment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Unencumbered Washington State registered nursing license;
  • Current clinical experience as an RN;
  • Current Health Care Provider BLS certification;
  • Current Immunizations TB test.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MN or MSN in a healthrelated field or enrolled in a graduate nursing program;
  • Prior teaching experience;
  • Experience with simulation.

SALARY BENEFITS CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Salary and Benefits:
Salary will depend on education level experience as an RN and/or teacher and number of hours worked. The current salary range per credit hour is $1349.15 to $1423.19. This is a union represented position subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Salary retirement medical and insurance benefits are provided in accordance with state regulations and may be subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
