Position Overview: The Assistant Dean for Advanced Dental Education Programs of the University of Utah School of Dentistry is an executive leadership role responsible for advancing the schools: Mission: Service; we care for the underserved . Education; we educate dentists and dental scientists for the future. Research; we advance oral and overall health through research ; we influence health care policy. And Vision: In 2030 we are the worlds exemplary and preeminent dental school . The Assistant Dean will oversee the directors of advanced dental education programs providing leadership and operational guidance. This role includes strategic oversight of the General Practice Residency a newly established specialty residency program in periodontics and developing programs in endodontics oral surgery and prosthodontics. Reporting to the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs this position requires strong collaborative skills to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders. This position will be in the (Clinical) Track and the rank will be determined based on experience. Compensation is based on the published ADEA compensation ranges and we offer an excellent benefits package including immediate vesting of 14.2 to retirement with no match required for all faculty who work more than 50 of the time. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership and operational guidance to directors of advanced dental education programs. Oversee the strategic development and implementation of a new specialty residency program in periodontics. Oversee the development accreditation and implementation of new programs in endodontics oral surgery and prosthodontics. Collaborate with the Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs and other executive leadership to align program goals with the institutions mission and vision. Engage with internal stakeholders including faculty staff and students to foster a collaborative and supportive educational environment. Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including industry partners accrediting bodies and professional organizations. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor and evaluate program performance making datadriven decisions to enhance program quality and outcomes. Assist in development of manage and be accountable to budgets for advanced dental education programs. Represent the institution at professional conferences meetings and events. Qualifications: Possess a DDS DMD or equivalent degree and be eligible for an unrestricted dental license in Utah. Requirements for a Utah dental license are found on DOPL . Possess a strong record of academic scholarly and professional achievements. Proven leadership experience in dental education. Strong understanding of contemporary issues in advanced dental education academic scholarship and overall healthcare. Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders including faculty residents alumni and external partners.
