University of Iowa Health Care opened a new psychiatric unit in 2021. This stateoftheart unit design features private rooms natural lightfilled spaces open nurses station and exercise rooms. Innovative technology has been integrated into this space to promote a safe environment for staff members and patients.
7RCP is separated into a 12bed mood disorder unit and a 13bed general adult psychiatry unit. We utilize an evidencebased patientcentered interdisciplinary approach with contributions from physicians psychologists advanced practice providers masterlevel therapists nurses social workers dieticians occupational and recreational therapists all striving to work collaboratively with patients and families to provide the best possible care. 7RCP features a new and collaborative position Behavioral Health Consultant with a goal to elevate the patient and team outcomes. Evidencebased therapeutic modalities utilized on the unit include dialectical behavior therapy cognitive behavior therapy and traumainformed care.
Percent of Time: 50100
Schedule: 2040 hours per week shifts vary and negotiable
Location: Roy Carver Pavilion (University Campus)
Rotations:Every otherweekendand rotating holidays
Salary:$30295 (at 50 effort) to commensurate (not including inpatient or shift differential)

Education Required:
- An Associates Degree in Nursing a Diploma in Nursing a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP) MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Masters Degree in Nursing (MSN MA) is required.
Experience Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions
- General computer skills are required
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
Desirable Qualifications:
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired
- If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable
- Knowledge of university and hospital policies and procedures is desired
