This is a ninemonth tenuretrack Assistant Professor position with the potential of summer teaching for additional compensation. Responsibilities include teaching 12 credit hours per semester with the possibility of reassigned time for research and/or service. Teaching assignments are based on department needs and candidates area of expertise. Courses may include Spanish from 100 to 400 levels in areas such as Beginning and Intermediate Spanish Spanish as a Heritage Language Conversation and Composition Cultural Studies Linguistics and Spanish for the Professions. Courses may also include areas in Chicano Studies such as Chicano Literature.
The successful candidate will have a desire to teach and mentor students from various backgrounds and experiences. The person in this position should have a strong sense of collegiality and a willingness to participate in a unified and lively department. The candidate will maintain a program of research and scholarship in the discipline and participate in service activities for the department college university and profession.
