Hours of Position:
7p7a 36 hours/week
$10k Signon Bonus for eligible candidates (current employees and candidates who have worked at Vanderbilt within the last year are not eligible.
The Progressive Care Unit is located on the 3rd floor at Vanderbilt TullahomaHarton Hospital (VTHH). Its a 19 bed unit with a typical Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 and the assistance of a Patient Care Technician/Certified Nurse Assistant. We are located on the third floor at Vanderbilt TullahomaHarton Hospital (VTHH).
The environment on our unit is focused on teamwork excellent patient care and welcoming new team members. We care for adult patients who are being treated for a variety of medical diagnoses. Our patients are unique because of their diverse medical needs. One of the perks of working on our unit is we get to work with such a diverse amount of medical diagnoses and work closely with our local cardiologist to care for these amazing patients.
Our nurses are successful because they have strong assessment and communication skills excellent focus on teamwork and trust in themselves and their teammates.
We orient new nurses to our unit through six weeks of unitspecific orientation with a designated preceptor and skills days focusing on skills used on our unit.
If your career goal is to gain strong assessment skills and an abundance of knowledge for a diverse amount of medical diagnoses the VTHH PCU can help with this by giving you the knowledge and skills to succeed and are always interested in expanding our team of RNs and LPNs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborates in establishing the plan of care coordinates and implements care delivery while anticipating patient care needs across the continuum.
Analyzes comprehensive information pertinent to the patients care and management to determine nursing diagnosis.
Continually utilizes the nursing process to evaluate patients progress towards goals and applies appropriate interventions to ensure effective outcomes.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe and healthy environment.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
NURSING PATIENT ASSESSMENT & EVALUATION HOME CARE(NOVICE): : Possesses ample fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to assess and evaluate patients in practical applications of moderate difficulty in the home setting. The RN Home Care works autonomously to provide safe thorough and effective physicianordered care in the home setting. Conducts primary care patient interviews assesses the safety of the home environment and performs a comprehensive physical assessment. The RN Home Care demonstrates appropriate acumen to recognize problems ask questions and to contact the patients primary care provider.
Nursing Patient Education (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency in providing patient education in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Care Planning (Novice): Demonstrates ability to anticipate resource needs identify distinct tasks set priorities schedule activities meet deadlines and organize work within areas of direct responsibility. Competently handles multiple assignments often simultaneously by prioritizing work into manageable and measurable units. Ability to adapt to changes to patient care and area needs with minimal disruption and loss of productivity. Follows up to assure problems and issues are resolved.
EvidenceBased Nutrition Practice (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully search for nutrition evidence to answer clinical questions. Generally works under the direction of others while accomplishing assignments.
