This position is anticipated to be assigned to the Traffic Unit:
Community Service Officers will normally be assigned to one unit but may be required to transfer or complete duties from each service area as assigned. The other CSO units are:
Minimum Qualifications:
Skills:Knowledge of police methods practices and procedures is beneficial; ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and to prepare clear comprehensive reports; ability to deal courteously but firmly with the public; ability to analyze situation and to adopt quick effective and reasonable courses of action with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances.
Physical requirements for this position as outlined by the Department of Labor: MEDIUM WORK: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 30 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing for preemployment reasonable suspicion postaccident and random testing.
Dependent upon assignment a majority of time spent in this position involves outside work which may involve extreme temperatures extreme brightness radiant energy and/or electrical position requires regular use of traffic/roadways and requires driving a Cityowned vehicle and is subject to the vehicle use policy and procedures.
Must be able to work in varied local environments utilizing department assigned clothing and equipment. This position involves driving walking standing and repetitive entry/exit from city vehicle in all types of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
