The faculty and students of the Department of Biomedical Engineering focus on connecting engineering and technology with medicine. Therefore many groups have a substantial translational component in their research. Strong connections with worldclass faculty at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine and the College of Dentistry offer unparalleled opportunities for research across boundaries through interdisciplinary collaborations. The laboratories in the department create new approaches and tools for medical imaging tissue engineering and repair gene therapies and advanced drug delivery bio instrumentation and biosensors mechanobiology robotics and prosthetics for rehabilitation synthetic and systems engineering neural engineering and a wide variety of other applications. This includes but is not limited to advanced in vitro models and organsonchip biomaterials and stem cell therapies for neural tissue repair and bioelectronics. Exceptional candidates in closely related fields such as Neurogenomics and Precision Neuromedicine will also be considered.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering or a closely related discipline. We seek individuals who have or have the potential to develop a strong record of scholarship leadership curricular innovation entrepreneurship and an excellent funding record. In addition the applicants should have demonstrated or have the potential for excellence in teaching and mentoring. Candidates should consider key opportunities for synergy with NYUs strong neuroscience centers and/or related clinical departments.
