Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
- 30 college credits approved military corrections experience or COPT certification preferred.
- Some college work in criminal justice political science or the social sciences preferred.
- Basic computer skills.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Possession of a valid motor vehicle operators license;
- Must be able to be commissioned as a Police Officer for the University of Delaware (this requires successful completion of mandatory police training in the State of Delaware or equivalent training acceptable to the Delaware Council on Police Training within the first year of employment *.
- Must pass a preemployment drug screening test as well as a battery of preemployment tests designed to measure mental skills motor skills writing skills and physical fitness and agility applicable to law enforcement officers and a comprehensive background investigation including driving records financial status and criminal history;
- Successful completion of mandatory police training in the State of Delaware or equivalent training acceptable to the Delaware Council on Police Training within the first year of employment is required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age and a United States citizen
* When essential for operational purposes the University of Delaware reserves the right to require credentials necessary to be commissioned as a Police Officer in the State of Delaware upon employment.
