Job Description

William James College announces openings for fulltime Teaching Faculty Fellows in the Clinical Psychology Department beginning August 2025. The Fellowship offers a highly competitive salary and opportunities for career advancement at the College.

The Teaching Faculty Fellowship aims to recruit train and mentor recent graduates who have completed their doctoral degrees in Clinical or Counseling Psychology; and prepare new faculty to enter the nations professoriate. The primary aim of the Fellowship is to develop a critical mass of exceptionally talented and welltrained faculty members who are historically underrepresented in academic settings. It endeavors to equip Fellows with the skills knowledge and expertise to engage in paradigm shifting inclusive teaching advising and research practices as well as in administrative and leadership positions in academia.

Eligibility Requirements:Applicants must be recent graduates or early career professionals with Clinical or Counseling Psychology doctoral degrees (including those who will complete their graduate studies by August 2025. Candidates 1 who identify with groups that have historically been underrepresented in academia (including but not limited to individuals who identify as LGBTQIA individuals with disabilities ethnically racially or religiously minoritized individuals and veterans and those presently serving in the armed forces); and/or 2 with a strong interest in promoting diversity equity inclusion and accessibility as well as a demonstrated commitment to serving underserved communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities: Teaching Faculty Fellows are involved in teaching advising and research supervision of graduate students. Additionally they participate in didactic training on inclusive teaching and learning designs strengthbased pedagogical approaches and culturally empowering instructional strategies. Fellows actively engage in professional development scholarly and program evaluation activities. They also receive faculty and peer mentorship throughout their enrollment in the program. Of particular interest to the Fellowship are candidates with a backgroundor interest in developing expertisein consultation personality and cognitive assessment program development and evaluation and substance use disorders. We are seeking applicants with interest in addressing disparities in these domains and/or whose work has focused on behavioral health equity for unserved groups and underserved communities. Fellows may teach generalist foundational courses in the Clinical Psychology Department including Clinical Practice Social Bases of Behavior and Cognitive Assessment. We are also seeking applicants interested in teaching courses in the Center for Multicultural and Global Mental Health focused on psychological assessment and testing of Latino Black African and Caribbean populations.

Qualifications: Applicants must possess a PsyD or PhD in Clinical Psychology or Counseling Psychology have completed an APAaccredited internship have earned their degrees within the past 10 years (through August 2025 have teaching experience preferably be licensed or licenseeligible in Massachusetts and maintain some involvement in clinical practice or consultation. A demonstrated record of scholarly work defined broadly (e.g. community engagement educational leadership innovation investigation and research) is preferred. Successful applicants will also have a demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity inclusion and multicultural competence in an educational and work environment and must be willing to contribute to the Colleges strategic plan of inclusion. Candidates must be available to teach inperson classes and participate in oncampus activities. The department welcomes applications from individuals who may have had nontraditional career paths or who may have taken time off for family reasons or who have achieved excellence in careers outside of academia. Applicants must be able to assume employment in the United States without College Sponsorship.
