Ultrasonographer

Shift: Fulltime; day shift

Benefits Eligible

SignOn Bonus: $7500 paid over 2 years if external

An Ultrasonographer under the direction of the Director of Radiology Services or assigned Supervisor is responsible for performing a variety of procedures that require independent judgment ingenuity and initiative.

Accountable for staffing needs. Assists with completing schedules address and review payroll as needed. Helps with staff education/inservices/specialized skilled training programs. Assists in the hiring and orientation program of newly hired staff.

Provides leadership by coordinating and delegating patient care in an organized manner allowing for flexibility. Acts as supervisor when supervisor is absent. Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.

Manages daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance of highquality costeffective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospitals budgetary guidelines identify and explain key variances. Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective multidisciplinary teamwork. Identify and Implement cost saving ideas.

Creates an environment that promotes staff empowerment. Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital. Is able to instruct and lead the staff so that a high level of productivity is maintained intervening when necessary to problem solve.

Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Responsible to maintain current professional expertise. Promotes personal and professional growth among coworkers. Exhibits discretion and sound judgment in all aspects of the job.

Collaborating with the Assigned Supervisor effectively resolves complex unit situations such as patient complaints and crises.

Researches and recommends short and longterm strategies to meet the patient care needs. Assists with the achievement of objectives and necessary modifications for attainment of goals.

Represents UnityPoint Health (UPH) in a professional manner. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel.

Evaluates and guides staff with appropriate input of job performance. Demonstrates the ability to interpret apply and follow personnel policies/procedures fairly and consistently. Provides immediate feedback (positive and negative) about job performance to supervised personnel. Provides input to manager on performance evaluations.

Evaluates sonograms for technical quality.

Understands correct machine settings to produce accurate appearing images.

Performs equipment calibrations and adjustments.

Selects technical factors and imaging modes. Informs supervisor or calls for service in absence of supervisor when needed.

Qualifications

Certified and holds current registration with the ARDMS or the ARRT in Sonography.
