Job Description

Play a key role in safeguarding our community from flood risks while directly interacting with Edmonton residents. As a Lot Grading Inspector youll be the goto expert providing invaluable guidance to both residential and commercial property owners. Think of yourself as an educator and a problemsolver ensuring everyone understands and adheres to the Citys Drainage Bylaw Lot Grading procedures and related guidelines. Your work will directly contribute to creating a safer more resilient Edmonton. If youre passionate about customer service and making a tangible difference this role is for you. What will you do

  • Verify the lot grading work of property owners landscapers and grading contractors by conducting site inspection of residential commercial and industrial developments
  • Assess potential impact of lot grading on adjacent properties evaluate degree of nonconformance and conditionally approve or recommend proposals to rectify nonconformances
  • Authorize rough and final lot grade certificates for residential commercial and industrial developments
  • Respond to inquiries verbally and through formal letters utilizing knowledge of engineering principles and Drainage Bylaw 18093 explaining grading concepts regulations and reasons of failed inspection
  • Check lot grading certificates and lot grading plans for compliance with Drainage Bylaw 18093 and lot grading guidelines and ensure any special conditions are met
  • Maintain the filing and database systems for all applicable lot grading cases and files
