Job Description
Universal Brand Catalog is responsible for the modeling and curation of the largest brand catalog in the world which directly powers any brand experience across Amazon. We solve challenging technical problems such as extracting structured data from unstructured content automatic data and item classification ontology design big data computation and high scale service design to meet our charter. Teams across Amazon consume our datasets and services to improve brand and product information search and discoverability brand protection and delivery experience. You will learn about designing and developing massive distributed systems big data workflows and low latency web services while innovating beyond textbook solutions. Technologies involved include NoSQL databases Java ReactJS Elastic Computing Machine Learning and more.
We are looking for a software engineer who has strong technical design skills and is able to drive technical design of broad efforts that have high impact and visibility. This role has a number of opportunities for crossboundary ownership and require crossorganizational technical leadership skills to create seamless technical designs and solutions that reliably work endtoend.
Key job responsibilities
Partner with Principal Engineers and Product and Program Management to define and grow the technical and architectural vision for UBCs missioncritical systems driving the brand and product experience on Amazon.
Deliver and own scalable faulttolerant and highly available services that underpin our largescale data processing solutions.
Build and own systems for discovery and lifecycle management of millions of brands and petabytes of data.
Develop solutions to efficiently deploy and orchestrate application flows across a hybrid set of compute environments.
Utilize serverless and container technologies to build nextgen scalable compute layer solutions.
3 years of noninternship professional software development experience
2 years of noninternship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience programming with at least one software programming language
3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity signon payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and/or other benefits.
