Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
Under departmental direction the data collector coordinates activities to support the Football COACH Study. Provides assistance to an established research team by collecting data keeping records analyzing data and preparing and maintains recordkeeping systems and procedures to ensure compliance with study protocols and all appropriate regulations. Visit data collection sites as needed to perform activities including but not limited to: assist the research team with recruitment activities (screen and consent) administer questionnaires deploying study equipment to their respective assigned teams collecting kinematic data and answer any questions about the research study. Responsible for assisting with Neurocognitive data sessions where study participants come in for a study visit and complete both computer and noncomputer related tasks. Knowledge and training on testing battery will be required. Responsible for the compilation registration and submission of data as required by the Sponsor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Engineering Social Science Education or Public Health; or an equivalent combination of experience and education including training in research methodology computerized data processing and/or interviewing techniques.
LICENSURE CERTIFICATION and/or REGISTRATION
1. Must complete the CITI certification for Human Subject Research if not already completed.
2. All additional required WakeOne training for research coordinators.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
1. Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
2. Excellent reading comprehension
3. Strong organizational skills
4. Outgoing professional persistent and familiar and open to working in the hospital environment and outside of the hospital environment with collaborators
5. Familiar with data collection tools (i.e. RedCap) and experienced with Microsoft Powerpoint Excel and Word
6. A background in nursing engineering or other healthrelated field
7. Comfortable communicating with physicians engineers coaches team owners etc
8. A person that practices with a critical thinking approach and is not afraid to point out to a superior (senior engineer) that something doesnt look right
9. Willing to perform data entry tasks over long periods of time during the day
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Recruit Study Participants Work with project manager to coordinate and assist with recruitment sessions to enroll study participants.
Collect OnField Data Attend local and/or national sporting events to collect various forms of onfield data including wearable sensor activity log video and survey data.
Collect Qualitative Data Take detailed notes and/or lead structured interviews with study participants.
Manage collected data Organize collected data perform any required postprocessing steps and communicate data location to study staff. Communicate any adverse events to research team.
Data Analysis Visually verify and characterize collected data according to developed protocols.
Collaboration Work in partnership with the research team/teams.
Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Clean comfortable office environment and travel is required.
Please note that for this data collection position there will be outdoor data collection sessions so instances of both inclement weather and the summer season should be noted.
