Director of Engineering Backend
Location: Bengaluru (Onsite)
Experience: 1216 Years
Compensation: Up to 1.8 Cr Equity
About the Role:
A highgrowth SaaS product company is looking for a Director of Engineering to lead scale and drive innovation in building highly scalable distributed backend systems. This is a leadership role for someone with deep expertise in Java microservices highconcurrency systems and cloudnative architectures who has successfully scaled teams from 10 to 100 and built highperformance faulttolerant platforms in eCommerce or highscale product companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and execute the engineering roadmap ensuring scalability reliability and high availability.
- Architect develop and optimize highscale distributed systems for highconcurrency lowlatency and realtime processing.
- Lead the design and implementation of microservices and eventdriven architectures.
- Champion best practices in DevOps CI/CD observability and automation.
- Scale mentor and manage a team of 50 engineers fostering a culture of excellence and ownership.
- Collaborate with product business and leadership teams to align technology with business growth.
Ideal Candidate:
- 1216 years of experience in scaling engineering teams in highgrowth product companies (eCommerce experience preferred).
- Proven track record in building distributed systems microservices and highscale architectures.
- Expertise in Java Spring Boot Microservices Distributed Systems HighConcurrency Architectures.
- Deep experience with AWS Kubernetes Kafka Redis PostgreSQL MongoDB Elasticsearch.
- Strong leadership in scaling teams from 10 to 100 engineers.
- Ability to solve complex system design challenges and drive technical excellence.
