Continuous Improvement Engineer CoOp Fall 2025

The Role:
Our site in Chaska MN is seeking a/an Continuous Improvement Engineer CoOp to join our team for the Fall 2025 season. This assignment is intended to be 6 months in duration.

The Continuous Improvement CoOp will work alongside CI and Operation professionals to support projects. The intent of the Continuous Improvement Engineer CoOp role is to allow individuals to be exposed to the technical and management aspects of engineering and continuous improvement while beginning to develop an interest for longer term career aspirations. They will support the daily management tiered meeting structure participating in structured problem solving. They will also support the completion of Kaizen events to drive improvements across operations with respect to safety quality delivery and cost.

What Youll Do:
Gain an understanding of the plant process and equipment by working with a diverse group of functional areas on such projects as: efficiency issues and waste reduction.
Work with a diverse group of crossfunctional areas such as safety maintenance process engineering and operations.
Communicate with people diverse in language ability educational levels and experience.
Implement and support 5S initiatives in a specified area in CHS operation floor.
Support and enhance problem solving at the daily Tier 1 Meetings

Basic understanding of continuous improvement principles.
Strong time management skills.
Flexibility and accountability to support needs of operations.
Professional and positive communication skills and ability to work well in group settings.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint) required.

Desired Major(s) & Graduation Year:
Industrial Mechanical Electrical Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering
Bachelors/masters degree to be completed between December 2025 May 2027

Eligibility:
Must be a currently enrolled student
Available to work 40 hours a week MF 8a5p) beginning in July through December
Must be familiar with the universitys requirements to participate in a coop program

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to work in basic physical stances and actions (sitting standing walking). May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Compensation: $20$30/hour range with actual pay dependent on candidate overall skills for the role
