Mainframe Specialist

About the team:
You will be joining the TECH Strategy and Acceleration (TS&A) team responsible for driving the IT transformation. Our goal is to enable the development community to be fully compliant and realise their productivity potential by offering an internal Development Platform for the endtoend System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

You will collaborate closely with the Mainframe CI/CD repositories (MCRM) squad.

Key responsibilities:

Your role and responsibilities are to act as an enabler with the following core competencies:

Subject Matter Expert:

• Acting as a subject matter expert on Rational Team Concert (RTC) and IBM Developer for Zseries (IDz) and the related technical platform suite supporting CI/CD practices and tools.

• Accelerating mainframe modernization with DevOps and Cloud.
  

• Knowledge on CI/CD process flow for the z/OS mainframe.
  

• Acting as a subject matter expert on Problem Determination tools like Debugger Fault Analyser and File Manager.
  

• Acting as a subject matter expert on Cobol and PL1 compilers.
  

• Acting as a subject matter expert on Mainframes and its internal setup.
  

Development Customization and Testing:

• Work with plugin development and customization of the Mainframe tool using Java.
  

• Troubleshooting and debugging on the internal setup of the tools.
  

• Working with CI/CD pipeline by adopting DevOps with Cloud knowledge.
  

• Practice of test with focus on test automation.
  

• Continually improve on the tools processes and procedures.
  

• Passionate to work on Full stack development opportunities.
  

Maintenance and Support:

• Build maintain and scale infrastructure of the development environment and systems.
  

• Work with thirdparty vendors to resolve infrastructure issues if needed.
  

• Own production incidents/issues and provide level 3 response to infrastructure incidents and alerts.
  

• Write and maintain technical infrastructure documentation.
  

Requirements

Experience and qualification:

• 812 years of experience in working with software development on the mainframes and distributed environments will be preferred.
  

• Bachelors/masters degree in computer science ITrelated field or similar.
  

• Do not share profiles without PL/1 programming hands on experience.
  

Mandatory Skills:

• PL/1 (hands on experience 3 years) in PL/1 programming)
  

• COBOL
  

• Good hands on exposure to DB2
  

• JCL
  

Relevant Skills:

• Operating Systems: IBM Z series Windows Linux.
  

• Languages: JCL COBOL PL1 REXX Assembler and Java.
  

• Databases: DB2 SQL Server.
  

• Tools: IBM Rational Tools like RDz/IDz RTC Problem determination tools like Debug tool Fault Analyser File Manager.
  

• CI/CD Tools: Jenkins Drone I/O Azure Devops scripting knowledge for automation Sonarqube.
  

• Knowledge on DevOps and Cloud is must.
  

• Need to be a quick learner & able to work on the new technologies.
  

Soft Skills and competencies:

Nice to Have:

• Knowledge on CICS and MQs would be an added advantage.
  

• Experience with Testing Tools and practices would be an added advantage.
