Description / Position Overview

Auditor I

About this Job: In this atwill entrylevel position you will conduct audits of the City of Colorado Springs and its enterprises including Colorado Springs Utilities. You will evaluate policies practices and procedures against recognized standards develop audit evidence to support conclusions analyze data and assess the effectiveness of controls. Youll thrive as a valued member of the audit team managing multiple projects with different supervisors. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for working alongside diverse team members and clients.

As an Auditor I you will:
  • Evaluate organizational operations for enhanced efficiency streamlined processes and functionality of internal controls.
  • Design auditing tests including data analytics to assess financial and operational systems reliability integrity controls and compliance.
  • Contribute to risk identification and assessments for audits ensuring compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Perform fieldwork and conduct interviews with clients.
  • Support the preparation of audit reports providing recommendations based on professional judgment and relevant frameworks.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation to support audit findings and recommendations.
  • Perform assigned duties as part of the team contributing to planning and project management.
  • Plan audits adhering to professional standards.
  • Develop audit programs approved by senior staff for efficient auditing processes.
  • Develop secure relationships with clients while maintaining objectivity.
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
Knowledge of:
  • Business processes
  • Accounting and auditing standards and practices
  • Methods and techniques of auditing
  • Methods and techniques of data collection research and report preparation
  • IT General Controls
  • Performance Auditing
  • Construction Auditing
Ability to:
  • Communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Stay informed and up to date on new regulations and operational practices
  • Evaluate and obtain a thorough understanding of the area under examination
  • maintain objectivity in highpressure situations
This position requires excellent organizational and time management skills

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous audit experience.
  • Experience working in municipal government airports or the utility industry.
  • Advanced Excel skills to include Power Query and Power BI.
  • Experience with TeamMate ACL (Diligent) and data analytics software and techniques.
