DescriptionApt Resources is seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Transformer Oil Expert to join a reputable client in the Utilities Power Generation and Infrastructure sector. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in evaluating and managing transformer oil quality ensuring optimal performance and longevity of electrical equipment. As a Transformer Oil Expert you will be responsible for conducting rigorous testing analysis and quality assurance of transformer oil to adhere to industry standards and best practices. You will collaborate closely with engineering teams and provide insights to mitigate risks associated with transformer oil degradation and contamination.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive testing and analysis of transformer oil samples to evaluate quality dielectric strength and performance characteristics.
- Implement advanced diagnostic techniques such as Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) to identify potential transformer issues.
- Develop and implement standardized oil sampling and testing protocols to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards (e.g. IEC ASTM).
- Establish procedures for regular monitoring and evaluation of transformer oil conditions.
- Analyze testing results and prepare detailed reports on oil quality trends and performance recommending necessary actions for maintenance and improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of oil test results and ensure data integrity for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to address transformer oil management issues providing expert recommendations for oil treatment and replacement.
- Assist in troubleshooting transformer failures related to oil quality and condition.
- Facilitate knowledgesharing sessions to keep the team informed about advancements in transformer oil technologies and testing methodologies.
- Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and industry best practices related to oil disposal and management.
- Support risk assessment initiatives related to transformer performance and oil management identifying potential hazards and developing mitigation strategies.
- Participate in developing contingency plans to address transformer failures and oilrelated emergencies.
Requirements - Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transformer oil analysis and management within the Utilities or Power Generation sectors.
- Expertise in Dissolved Gas Analysis (DGA) oil filtration and oil regeneration techniques.
- Familiarity with industry standards (IEC ASTM) for transformer oil and equipment.
- Strong understanding of transformer oils including their properties and testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations for transformer oil quality and testing.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proficient in using laboratory equipment for oil analysis.
- Ability to work collaboratively with crossfunctional teams.
- Experience in Power and Water plants is a plus
- Knowledge of risk management practices in electrical infrastructure is an advantage.
