MADISON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICT #38



Position Title: International Baccalaureate (IB)

Middle Years Programme (MYP) Coordinator

Length of Work Yr: 9 months

Salary Range: $52545 $68263

Placement based on education and experience

Department: Meadows Middle School

Reports To: School Principal



JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor of Arts Degree
  2. Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate
  3. Appropriately Certified
  4. Minimum five years of teaching experience

JOB GOAL:
The primary responsibility of this position is the oversight and coordination of all IB related activities including teacher training unit development and reflection and the MYP Community Project. Through coordination with teachers administrators and the IB regional office the coordinator is responsible for the full delivery of the curriculum including documentation reporting analysis and evaluation.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Organize and facilitate implementation of the MYP for grades 58
  2. Identify and organize MYPrelated professional development opportunities for staff including: workshops site visits and curriculum development
  3. Lead bimonthly planning meetings with prep period teams
  4. Facilitate MYP induction process for new teachers
  5. Assist teachers in revising and developing units of inquiry
  6. Support implementation of MYP best practices in classrooms through modeling coteaching and coplanning of lessons and units
  7. Encourage an inquirybased learning environment within the school community
  8. Coordinate monitor and promote the MYP Community Project
  9. Facilitate implementation of effective researchbased instructional strategies such as flexible grouping of students differentiating instruction inquiry based teaching etc.
  10. Work collaboratively with building administration.
  11. Develop and maintain systems of collaboration related to the implementation of the MYP within the school
  12. Communicate with parents and the wider community regarding the implementation of the MYP at the school
  13. Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal

REPORTS TO:

Building Principal

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Maintains valid certifications fingerprint card and Appropriately Certified status. Observes teacher calendar and all Madison School District policies. Salary to be determined yearly according to Governing Board approved range.

EVALUATION:

Performance will be evaluated by the building principal or designee.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises classroom employees students and volunteers.
